I'm a regular lurker on your blog who's been checking this blog from time to time as well, and I'd like to thank you for running - and for considering running again. If I were in Texas, I'd definitely have voted for you. Congratulations on the results, not just for setting a new record in Libertarian history but for spreading the message to about (1,326,526-88,110) voters. And please do run again; Texas needs people like you.

I don't know. I've written hundreds of thousands of words online about my philosophy. Most people haven't.

You could learn a great deal about incumbents by reading the opinions they've written (especially the dissents), but the opinions generally seem so reasonable at first blush that you would need a law degree and years of experience to see the flaws.

Thank you for your vote.

A-MEN!
Though while I agree that Justice positions should be non-partisan, for now that's how it is and even the people who WANT to make an informed decision are having a hard time finding information.

We recently moved from Seattle to Galveston and this is our first election here. I'm having a helluva time researching candidates for these positions, which I believe are important. Why is this so hard? Back home they would send out voters guides in each district with at least a statement from each candidate.

There are people out here who want to make an educated decision and are if you want educated votes it also needs to be much easier to find out about all the candidates - not just the ones whose parties bought them a web designer and a SEO strategist. It's possible that, as with everything this year, we just haven't found the right place yet so if anyone can tell me where to get this information (central and equal) I'd appreciate it. Back to Google for now.

Meanwhile, you've got my vote. Thanks for making your background and rationale available!

I am astounded at how many government agencies, local government, etc. have no overseer to stop illegal actions acted upon in their work performance, starting from the President down. And what can a regular citizen do to prevent these actions or bring them to justice in light of corrupt justices or power seeking judges who act to maintain their status and keep on getting paid by the sweat of people who work their butts off to live a somewhat decent life. Something needs to be done in this country which was founded on justice for all!!!

Mark it's a promising lead...
I'm convinced local action is our only recourse; Mordor is lost, and the best we can hope for is its imminent financial demise.

At present Texas is little more than a satrapy of Mordor on the Potomac. But perhaps we can use the psychopaths against each other; whisper in the ear of our local Neros and Leo X's that they're losing power to Washington, that they could be MORE, and isn't it terrible THEY'RE not in more power. Get them to fight for the 10th amendment.

Meanwhile, invigorate Texans to take their own government back. Once the psychopaths are done duking it out, sweep'em out and re-take the state.

Or better yet--just chuck the damn thing and take the next logical step after the Enlightenment: proper pure anarchy.

Give up that last human superstition, that granting a monopoly of violence and coercion to the people most capable of lying their way into its control is A Good Idea.

Most destructive religion ever: Statism.

Mark, this is great news! I passed at running as a libertarian this year. I don't have the stomach to be a candidate. However, Let me know how I can be of help to you behind the scenes. I quit practicing law, so I have a fair amount of time on my hands.

Oh, I read your blog constantly and really like your point of view.

Good luck!

Mark-

Very happy to support you as a candidate for Judge. I think partisan elections are better, but they lead to appointments that never end because the elections because superfluous. A sitting judge has not lost in our county since the elections went non-partisan- so one appointed- always in office.

However, I will support you for Judge. Let me know where to send the check because I do know it takes money. However, I will hate to see you quit writing and become a referee rather than a player.
